ABOUT ABOUT

This training is based off the Mindful Schools in-school K- 5 curriculum taught to over 18,000 children since 2007. Our highly experienced and skilled Mindful Schools trainers Megan Cowan, Executive Director of Programs, and Kate Janke, Director of Training, will guide you through the curriculum containing nearly 30 lessons in mindfulness, teach you how mindfulness positively impacts the brain, show videos of programming in action and inform you on how to bring a mindfulness program into schools. The curriculum focuses on teaching children how to pay attention, build empathy, cultivate self awareness, reduce stress and control their impulses. There is time dedicated throughout the training to practice the lessons in a group. This prepares you for bringing the curriculum to life and helps you anticipate challenges you might face, so that you can get the support you need. Our aim for participants is to give them an interactive learning experience while meeting with other mindfulness practitioners from various professional backgrounds.

Participants will receive 16 hours of training along with the Mindful Schools K-5 Curriculum, a Teacher's Manual, handouts on the brain science of mindfulness, and information on how to bring mindfulness to a school. Lessons from this curriculum can easily be adapted for older youth, use in the home, after school programs, or in a private therapy practice.

During this training, Mindful Schools will be providing coffee & tea in the mornings and lunch for participants. We also have a discounted room block available for those of you who are coming in from out of town.

CEs for educators are available.
